Product Information

Ultrafiltration (UF) is a pressure-driven membrane separation process that separates particulate matter from soluble components in the carrier fluid (such as water). UF membranes typically have pore sizes in the range of 0.01 – 0.10 μm (micrometer) and have a high removal efficiency for bacteria and most viruses, colloids and silt. The smaller the nominal pore size, the higher the removal efficiency.
It is the ability to remove bacteria, viruses and other pathogens that has increased the use of UF membranes for water treatment applications. Using UF membranes, raw water can be disinfected without the use of excessive levels of chemical disinfectants, like chlorine, which can result in chlorinated by products. In addition, certain microbes like cryptosporidium cannot be effectively controlled with chlorine and typical media filtration alone. Ultrafiltration provides a positive barrier for microorganisms in water that can be effectively monitored.
PWT offers two types of filtration products: Dead End and Submerged.
